Peter Erskine

Peter Erskine démarre la batterie à l’âge de 4 ans. En 1972, il intègre le Stan Kenton Orchestra pour trois ans, poursuit avec Maynard Ferguson avant de rejoindre enfin Weather Report en 1978. Sa relation particulièrement amicale avec le bassiste Jaco Pastorius est un élément déterminant dans le succès de ce groupe avec lequel il enregistre 5 albums dont le fameux « 8:30 » qui obtient un Grammy Award en 79 .
Sa carrière se poursuit avec un nombre stupéfiant (plus de 600) de participations à des enregistrements avec des artistes comme Chick Corea, Steely Dan, Joe Henderson, Joni Mitchell, Gary Burton & Pat Metheny, Freddie Hubbard, Mike Stern, London Symphony Orchestra ou encore John Abercrombie Trio pour ne citer que les plus connus !  Sa discographie en solo est également riche de plusieurs albums solo, l’éponyme « Peter Erskine », « Transition », « Motion Poet », « Sweet Soul », « Time Being », « As it is », « Juni », History of the Drum » et tous les enregistrements ECM comme « You never know ». Peter gagne son second Grammy Award pour son travail sur l’album de Randy & Michael Brecker “Some Skunk Funk”.
Peter Erskine joue sur DW Drums, cymbales Zildijan et baguettes Vic Firth. Il utilise les ear monitors EarBay et protections auditives EarStop depuis le début 2013.
